Oculus Stock Facial Interface Overview
This is the piece that attaches around the lens and presses up against your face when using the Oculus. It needs to be comfortable and create the darkness needed for immersive VR experiences.
Stock Facial Interface Issues:
- No vents on it to allow for air movement so lenses would fog on workouts or high intensity games – this might be more dependent on type of games you play or home climate
- Large enough opening at the nose bridge for significant light to bleed (admittedly at times was convenient to check a phone message by just looking down without taking the headset off)
- Felt the need to clean the padding frequently between uses due to household sharing and sweat generated from no air flow heat – just felt less sanitary
KIWI design Upgraded Facial Interface
KIWI’s Upgraded Fitness Facial Interface solution provided a key fix to the biggest issue being air flow. There is no secret to the sauce here, it’s the vents and lots of them! The bracket that attaches to the Oculus has full width “L-shaped” vents that line the top and bottom.
“This dramatically improves heat dissipation and allows for cooler air to flow in.”
From there, you have two different types of thick foam pads to choose from; leather or sports cloth. Each can be swapped as needed with the Velcro backed attachment system. This upgraded facial interface also improves on the light bleed issue by incorporating a split noseguard design to help block any leakage. It can still allow a very small seam of light to show, however, with proper adjustments will result in a full blackout experience. Included in he box are two more thoughtful components; a glasses spacer and pillow-like lens protector. Both items are not game changers, but definitely needed and appreciated.

This is a great review and easy to read! We recently got an oculus and have absolutely loved playing it. My issue is that if I’m playing active games, the original headset slides down my nose so I have to make it very tight to stay on. Hopefully this takes away some of the pressure discomfort so I will definitely be investing in this to try it out.
Thank you for reading our review! We think it will definitely help with that and also check out the KIWI Elite Strap in combination with it. That helps better balance the weight distribution and should not require it to be as tight on your head.
